Last week I had the chance to tour The Carnegie Institution for Science here in D.C. For those of you who are already yawning, think again. Walking into this building was like stepping into another century. From the amazing linoleum-tiled floors (yep, you read it right, linoleum!) to the soaring arches and brightly lit rotunda, the building felt more like a grand hotel than a one of the world's greatest research institutions. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit I had walked by this beautiful building probably a hundred times and never gave it a second thought (let's be real, D.C. has a lot of monuments...). Just another reminder never to judge a book by it's cover.
